Research

The aim of Proteus is to create an inexpensive and modular platform with broad support for a variety of research scenarios. Listed below are a just a few of many possible applications for robots based on the Proteus platform.

Mobile Video Surveillance

With a vision module equipped, Proteus can seek out anomalies in both indoor and outdoor environments. This capability is ideally suited for perimeter patrolling applications such as airport security and border patrol.

Reconnaissance

Groups of Protei can form a mobile ad hoc network with both a decentralized and a hierarchical inter-vehicular coordination system. This configuration excels in fault tolerance, where if some Protei are destroyed or stolen, the network can self-reconfigure to continue providing mission-critical feedback.

Exploration

Proteus can be effectively used to chart out unmapped territories both above and below ground and for high-risk missions such as monitoring volcanic activity or search and rescue.

Remote Detection

Sensors modules can be added to Proteus to detect chemicals and biological entities, both for civilian and military applications.
